Dr. Jayanth Sundar Sampath - Advisor - Orthopaedics

Dr Jayanth S Sampath is Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon from Bangalore, India and is also attached to People Tree Hospitals and Nova Specialty Hospitals. He was most recently, the Consultant Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Liverpool, UK (2004 – 2010).

In September 2013, Dr Sampath established Bangalore Institute of Movement Research and Analysis (BIMRA), a purpose built facility for 3-D walking and movement analysis.


Being a recognized expert in the field of Paediatric Orthopaedics, Dr Sampath delivers numerous guest lectures at conferences and CME programs throughout India and abroad.He has over 25 publications in peer reviewed international journals, in addition to numerous presentations and book chapters. He was the first UK surgeon to employ the Fassier-Duvall Telescopic rod for Osteogenesis Imperfecta and the 8-plate device for correction of knee flexion contractures in children with cerebral palsy.

He has developed a paediatric orthopaedic information website for parents and patients (www.pediatric-orthopedic.com). As a clinical fellow in the USA, he wrote content for the DuPont Hospital Internet Program.

He has sufficient understanding of medical statistics, study design, and clinical outcome measures to conceive, plan and execute research projects independently. He is also aware of ethical issues in research and has made several successful applications to the Local Research Ethics Committee for approval and funding.

He is a member of the Paediatric Orthopaedic Society of India, Bangalore Orthopaedic Society, Karnataka Orthopaedic Association and Indian Orthopaedic Society (IOS UK).

He was selected for a Clinical Fellowship in Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgery at Alfred I Dupont Hospital for Children, Wilmington, Delaware, USA. He returned to Manchester in 2003 for a further Fellowship in Paediatric Orthopaedics and Deformity correction surgery. He was also awarded the FRCS (Trauma and Orthopaedics) degree by the Intercollegiate Specialty Boards and UK Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST) in 2004.

Dr Sampath graduated from Madras Medical College in 1994. He spent 2 years in Basic Surgical Training in various UK hospitals and was awarded the FRCS degree from the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh in 1997.
